KAMPUNG TOUR! {Day1 & 2}

After a long bus ride which many of us took a short nap,
We finally arrived at Kampung Pelegong for our highly anticipated
KAMPUNG TOUR!
DAY 1(:

Along with our teachers and the enthusiastic tour guides, we ventured into the kampung.
We were given a chance to explore the small and yet heart-warming village with the tour guides, as the little kids welcomed us as soon as we stepped into the village.
We could easily contrast their housing areas and the vast difference between the lifestyles we lead back in Singapore.

Some photos taken while we were trekking. (:

Then, we walked further into the Kampung and touched the "freshly-produced" latex from the rubber tree (ONCE A LIFETIME CHANCE!)(:
The tour guide then briefed us on the history of the rubber trees,
where it came from and how it arrived in Malaysia.

Also, each Cedarian was allowed to have a feel of the freshly cut latex,
Leaking from the rubber tree into a can.
It felt watery initially,
but gradually, it hardened to become a thick and sticky substance.

The tour guide then warned us not to rub it on our shirts,
as there will be a permanent stain on it :O

The latex can be easily removed by rubbing two fingers together.

A picture of the latex on one of our fingers(:

As the sun begins to set,
we bid farewell to the kampung dwellers.
We then walked back to the bus reluctantly...

Even though there were many mosquitoes,
and weird bugs which we have never seen before,
The kampong was filled with warmth and endless love and care from the villagers, as they play and have fun with one another each day. Grins can be seen on their faces, throughout the day, as they lead an innocent and carefree life.

The class truly bonded through this trip as roaring laughter and chats could be heard while we sang during trekking under the big hot sun. Most importantly, we learnt how to defend ourselves against mosquitoes!

Additionally, we have realised that there are many more people in this world whom do not lead  lives as luxurious as ours.
Exploring the kampung sure enlightened us and made us realised how fortunate we actually are...
